The PhizzPop Design Challenge is a web design and development competition sponsored by Microsoft. A select few design agencies compete in an interactive design challenge in front of a panel of judges and is streamed live, allowing the general public to judge the contestants as well. As part of the Archetype Inc. team, I helped to design and develop the Luminate Austin platform. Our challenge was to “create the platform that helps the citizens of Austin live more sustainably using current technology and social media principles.” Through the Luminate Austin platform, Austin residents can track their current carbon footprint and learn ways to reduce their footprint through tools that analyze flight and vehicle travel, as well as monitor and evaluate the carbon emissions produced by your home on a give day. The Luminate Game (www.archetype-inc.com/luminate) is a fun and easy way to teach kids how to recycle using a tetris-like interface.
